Aims of the Society

To ensure the preservation of the Suffolk Horse and the long term survival of the breed through measures such as sound stud management, importation of new bloodlines and breeding-up programs, together with suitable research projects on the breed's genetics.

To promote the breed throughout Australia and New Zealand in order to raise public awareness of the rarity of the breed and support for its recovery to sustainable levels.

To promote the Suffolk Horse as a suitable crossing horse for warmbloods.

To preserve and pass on traditional horse working skills and knowledge.

To explore significant new roles for heavy horse in a technological society.

To interact with other heavy horse associations within Australia and New Zealand.

To foster international links with all other Suffolk Horse groups and societies.
